This unique session builds the capability of the most senior leaders to understand and action their obligations under the Respect@Work positive duty reforms. It prepares leaders to fulfil their obligations to prevent sexual harassment, sex discrimination and other inappropriate behaviours and transform workplace culture to achieve high-performing, diverse environments where all individuals thrive and feel safe.

This course recognises of the key role people leaders play in influencing workplace culture and ensuring they have the skills to respond to inappropriate behaviours in general, and sexual harassment in particular, safely and effectively in real time and at the lowest level possible. This training program aims to enhance participants’ understanding of what constitutes sexual harassment and its impact on both the affected person and workplace culture more broadly. Additionally, this training includes strategies for addressing inappropriate workplace behaviour within the workplace and methods for promoting a healthy workplace culture as people leaders.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Increased knowledge and understanding of the nature, drivers, and prevalence of sexual harassment;
Increased understanding of the relevant legal frameworks and obligations – with a specific focus on the role of leaders in complying with the positive duty to eliminate sex discrimination, sexual harassment and other unlawful behaviours;
Increased awareness of the impact sexual harassment may have on individuals and the workplace;
Ability to apply effective skills and strategies for responding to disclosures and reports of sexual harassment in a person-centred and trauma-informed manner; and
Increased ability to address sexual harassment and other inappropriate workplace behaviours in the workplace, and to promote a healthy workplace culture.

This introductory course enhances participants’ understanding of what constitutes sexual harassment and its impact on both the affected person and workplace culture more broadly. Additionally, this training includes strategies for recognising sexual harassment, identifying the drivers of gendered violence in the workplace, and becoming an active bystander.

Increased knowledge and understanding of the nature, drivers, and prevalence of sexual harassment;
Increased understanding of the relevant legal frameworks and obligations – with a specific focus on the role of gender inequality as a driver of sexual harassment;
Increased awareness of the impact sexual harassment may have on individuals and the workplace; and
Ability to recognise sexual harassment when it occurs, and to apply active bystander skills to address it.

This entry-level training course aims to enhance participants’ understanding of appropriate and inappropriate workplace behaviour. Participants gain a deeper awareness of inappropriate behaviours such as discrimination, bullying, harassment, and sexual harassment, and they also learn strategies for being an active bystander.

This course is deigned to equip workplace investigators and human resource professionals on trauma-informed, person centred and gender-responsive approaches to workplace investigations. It is designed for professionals who have a basic understanding of how to conduct workplace investigations, and the principles of procedural fairness.
This half-day (3 hours) workshop is recommended to be delivered in person.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the workshop you will have:
an understanding of trauma, its impact on individuals and the need to accommodate for trauma in workplace investigations
an increased understanding of gender-based harm, sexual harassment, and unlawful sex discrimination
